The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stayed for two months a High Court order that granted bail to former UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu, the prime accused in Jamalpur's journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim murder case.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division passed the order on Wednesday (September 20).
Earlier on Tuesday (September 19), the HC bench of Justice Md Jahangir Hossain and Justice Mohammad Showkat Ali Chowdhury granted six months' bail to Babu following a bail petition in the case.
However, the suspended UP Chairman Babu is currently in jail.
An online news portal's Jamalpur district correspondent Nadim, 42, died on June 15, a day after he was attacked and injured allegedly by some supporters of a chairman Babu in Bakshiganj.
Later, a case was filed against Mahmudul Alam Babu, chairman of Sadhurpara Union Parishad, and 21 others over their alleged involvement in the killing of Golam Rabbani Nadim.
Nadim's wife Monira Begum filed the case with Bakshiganj Police Station on June 17.
She mentioned the names of 22 individuals and 20-25 others as unknown assailants in the case.
