Justice Obaidul Hasan will take oath as the 24th Chief Justice of the country today,  Tuesday (September 26).

President Md. Sahabuddin will administer the oath to the newly appointed Chief Justice at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 11:00 am. Supreme Court Registrar, General Md Golam Rabbani confirmed this information.

The President appointed Justice Obaidul Hasan as the 24th Chief Justice of the country on September 12. This appointment will be effective from the date of taking oath.

He will be the 24th Chief Justice of the country. Current Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddiqui's tenure as Chief Justice was until September 25.

Justice Hasan Foez Siddiqui was sworn in as the 23rd Chief Justice of the country on 31 December 2021.

Justice Obaidul Hasan was born on January 11, 1959 in a noble Muslim family of Chaishashi (Hatnaya) village under Mohanganj Thana of Netrakona district. His father's name is Akhlakul Hossain Ahmed mother's name is Begum Hossain Ara Hossain. His father Akhlaqul Hossain Ahmed was one of the organizers of the liberation war. He actively participated in the drafting of the constitution of Bangladesh after independence as a member of the Constituent Assembly and signed the constitution adopted by the Constituent Assembly. His younger brother Sazzadul Hasan is currently Member of Parliament for Netrakona-4 Constituency. Sazzadul Hasan was the former Senior Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office and the Chairman of the Air Transport Board.
