'Schedule In November, Election In First Week Of January'

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman said that according to the constitution, the schedule will be announced next November and the voting for the 12th national parliament election will be held in the first week of January. Ballot papers will be sent to the center on election day morning in all areas except hilly and remote areas.

He said this to reporters at the smart card distribution ceremony at Sreepur in Gazipur today, Tuesday (September 26).

The election commissioner also said that the commission is preparing for the 12th national election a little earlier to make the election fair and acceptable.

The Election Commissioner also said that due to the problem of a lack of cameras and monitoring systems, the Election Commission has moved away from CCTV because of the large number of polling booths in the national elections.

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman also said that although there is an opportunity to discuss with any party including BNP, there is no opportunity for formal dialogue.

He said that the Election Commission is not thinking about the visa policy. It is for the government to think about the visa policy.

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman said that the smart card has 10 digits There is no long line of 13 or 16 digits like NID. Moreover, this card looks like a bank's ATM card And by using it citizens can get all kinds of facilities. With 3 levels of 25 security features, this smart card will become an important point of identity for citizens That is, citizens can use this smart card for various purposes. 

He said that these will include driver's license, TIN, passport, job application, purchase and sale of immovable property, marriage registration, bank account opening and bank loan, share-bo account, withdrawal of various government allowances, salary of government employees and pension withdrawal of retirees, education. Admission to institutions, airport arrival and departure, insurance schemes, gas-electricity connections, various types of e-ticketing, mobile connections, health cards, e-cash, and many other important government works can be done through it. In general, this smart card will be sufficient for identification of citizens.
