The First Consignment Of Uranium Fuel Sent To Rooppur

The first consignment of fresh nuclear fuel (radioactive fuel) or uranium fuel for the first unit was sent from Dhaka to Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Pabna.

The vehicles full of uranium fuel was taken to Pabna through Dhaka-Tangail highway today Friday (September 29) through special security. For this reason, all types of vehicles were stopped from 5 am to 7:30 am on this highway. As a result, long queues of vehicles were seen at various places. No vehicles could ply from Gazipur to Tangail. The police took position at the intersections.

Earlier, this uranium was released at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in a chartered aircraft of Russia. The fuel of the first batch of Unit-1 of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant arrived yesterday Thursday (September 28) around 1:30 pm.

It is to be noted that for the first unit, it is said that this uranium will be officially handed over on October 5. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the handover ceremony virtually.
