Brahmanbaria-2 lawmaker Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan died at a hospital in Dhaka early today. He was 84.
He breathed his last at 3:02 a.m. at Evercare Hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for the last week.
Confirming his death, Abdus Sattar's son Mainul Hasan Tushar said his father had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time.
Abdul Sattar, a six-time elected Member of Parliament, was born on January 16, 1939, in Parmanandpur village under Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila.
He was also a former advisor to the BNP Chairperson and state minister for law, fisheries, and lands.
Abdus Sattar was an elected lawmaker from Brahmanbaria and Cumilla as a BNP candidate five times, including the 11th parliamentary election held in 2018.
He resigned from BNP on December 11, 2022.
Abdus Sattar again won Brahmanbaria-2 by-elections as an independent candidate this year.
