The administration has stopped the movement of ships on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route in Cox's Bazar. Due to rough seas and hostile weather, no tourist ships left Teknaf on Saturday morning (September 30). As a result, about one and a half hundred passengers who stayed in St. Martin yesterday were stranded there.

According to Cox's Bazar Meteorological Office sources, warning signal no. 3 has been issued in the sea. The administration said no ships would go to St. Martin until the weather normalized.

Teknaf Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mohammad Adnan Chowdhury confirmed the matter. He said that due to inclement weather, no tourist ship from Teknaf was allowed to go to Saint Martin to avoid accidents. Even the movement of all types of speedboats and wooden trawlers has been banned. Because of this, about one and a half hundred tourists who came to travel to St. Martin are stranded. They will be brought back when the weather is normal.

UNO also said that the law enforcement forces have been asked to be vigilant so that the tourists staying on the island are not harassed. Besides, tourists have been instructed not to go down on the beach, he said.
