Brahmanbaria district Awami League general secretary and Zilla Parishad chairman Al-Mamun Sarker passes away at his residence on Monday morning at the age of 67.
He died at about 8:45am in sleep at his in-laws house in Baganbari. The district AL former joint secretary Golam Mohiuddin Khokon confirmed the death news, adding that, Mamun had been suffering from various diseases, including heart problem, for a long time.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the district Eidgah Math after Asr prayer and he will be buried at Sherpur graveyard. Mamun Sarker left behind wife, a son and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep sorrow at the demise of AL leader and freedom fighter Al-Mamun Sarker.
In a condolence message, the premier said the people of Brahmanbaria have lost a people-loving leader at the death of Al Mamun Sarkar.
Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Bangladesh Awami League, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
