No one will be landless in the country: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that arrangements are being made to rehabilitate the country's homeless and landless through the 'Shelter Scheme'. There will be no more homeless and landless people in the country.

She said these things in a message given on the occasion of 'World Habitat Day' on Monday (October 2). In his speech, she wished for the overall success of 'World Habitat Day-2023'.

The Prime Minister said that in the light of Article 16 of the Constitution of Bangladesh, our government has adopted a multifaceted action plan to eliminate the disparity in the quality of life in urban and rural areas.

She said, I am happy to know that the day is being celebrated like every year in continuation of the 'World Settlement Day'. The theme of this year's day, 'Sustainable cities drive growth and recovery of sustainable urban economies', I believe is apt for the post-Covid-19 era.

Highlighting Bangabandhu's activities to improve people's living standards, the Prime Minister said, the greatest Bengali of all time, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, undertook various activities for the overall development of the people of the country; So that the standard of living of all the people of the country is improved and at the same time there is a balanced development of urban and rural areas.

The Prime Minister also said that various development projects undertaken and implemented by our government such as: Metro Rail Project, Padma Bridge Project, Elevated Expressway Project, various flyover construction projects and shelter projects will contribute to the economic growth and recovery of the city.

She said that cities are the center of economic growth and recovery. Urbanization is not the result of economic growth but its real driving force. A stable urban economy is essential for the growth and recovery of cities. It has been observed what kind of disaster can be caused during the Covid-19 if the economy of the city is not stabilized.

Sheikh Hasina said that the accommodation facility for government officials and employees has been increased from 8 percent to 28 percent, which will soon be increased to 40 percent. All these groundbreaking steps will play an important role in achieving the economic growth of the country.

Shee said, I firmly believe that I will get the overall support of the people of the country to establish Bangladesh as a stable and advanced economy country in the world. To this end we have announced Vision 2041. By 2041, Bangladesh will be a poverty-free, happy-prosperous, developed 'Smart Bangladesh'. The father of the nation's lifelong dream of 'Golden Bangladesh' will be realized.
