US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller commented that the United States does not want to influence the Bangladesh elections by supporting any party. He said that Bangladesh and the United States want the same, free and fair elections.

He made this comment at the regular briefing of the US State Department on Monday (October 2).

Matthew Miller was asked whether the US State Department supports Peter Haas's statement regarding the visa ban on the media. But Matthew Miller avoided the matter without giving any answer.

Miller said the Bangladesh government, political parties, civil society and the media are all talking about a fair election, and the United States wants that too.

He also said that the visa policy has been announced so that the people of Bangladesh can freely choose their leaders.
