Bangladesh has condemned the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Palestine. Expressing grief over the loss of lives and casualties of innocent civilians, Bangladesh said that no side would benefit from escalation of conflict and violence.

Reiterating that only dialogue and diplomacy can lead to a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Bangladesh called on all parties to work towards this end.

"We call on both Israel and Palestine to exercise maximum restraint and call for an immediate ceasefire to avoid innocent casualties on both sides," the Foreign Ministry said in a press release today, Sunday (October 8).

Bangladesh also pointed out that Israeli occupation and forced settlements in the Palestinian territories will not bring peace to the region.

The ministry said Bangladesh supports Palestine and Israel living side by side as independent states following UN Resolutions No. 242 and 338, which can bring lasting peace and stability to the region.

Bangladesh has called on all parties concerned to refrain from excessive and indiscriminate use of force in the conflict.
