A youth named Raju Ahmed was apprehended by the police during an attempt to abduct an expatriate's wife, right in front of her mother.
This incident occurred on Monday, October 9, as Raju and his accomplices tried to carry out the abduction while crossing the Chandpur Bridge over the Dakatiya River in Chandpur city.
The detained individual, Raju Ahmed, is the son of Kashem Khan, who serves as the chairman of Ibrahimpur UP in Sadar.
On the other hand, the expatriate's wife, Mithila Begum, managed to escape from the abduction attempt. She is the daughter of Quddus Mia from Faridganj Upazila and is currently a first-year degree student at Chandpur Government College.
According to law enforcement authorities, Raju Ahmed and several youths obstructed the path of Mithila and her mother as they were en route to the Chandpur Bridge, which connects Natunbazar and Puranbazar in the city.
They attempted to abduct Mithila. Thankfully, when Mithila and her mother called out for help from the local residents, the incident was promptly reported to the police. Sub-Inspector Md. Shahjahan from Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station arrived at the scene, apprehended Raju, who was attempting to kidnap Mithila, and brought him to the police station.
Mithila's father, Quddus Mia, expressed his concerns, stating that this individual has been attempting to disrupt his daughter's family and has made several unwelcome advances toward her in the past.
To protect their daughter from his harassment, they previously filed a General Diary (GD) against him at the police station. However, this time, he resorted to a brazen kidnapping attempt, causing them to demand severe punishment for Raju.
Raju, in his defense, claimed that he had a romantic relationship with Mithila and asserted that she wanted to be with him. He stated that the incident occurred when he tried to persuade her to be with him. However, Mithila, the housewife, denied any romantic involvement.
Sub-Inspector Shahjahan of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station emphasized that Mithila had been married to an expatriate in a traditional manner, making Raju's actions reprehensible. Previously, Mithila's father had filed a police complaint against Raju, and the authorities are treating this matter seriously.
Meanwhile, UP Chairman Kashem Khan, Raju's father, declined to comment on the incident.
