President Undergoes Open Heart Surgery

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has successfully undergone cardiac bypass surgery in Singapore.

The procedure was carried out at the city-state's National University Hospital on Wednesday (October 19), the president's press aide Md Joynal Abedin told state news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

Shahabuddin is currently recovering in the hospital's post-operative unit. He has regained consciousness and is in stable condition.

The head of state travelled to Singapore for advanced medical care on Monday.

Upon his arrival, he was admitted to the National University Hospital after undergoing the required health examinations.
