Another Consignment Of Uranium Reaches Rooppur

Another consignment of nuclear fuel for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has reached the project site on Friday (October 20) morning.

This is the fourth batch of fresh fuel for unit-1 of the power plant, as per local correspondent.

A total of seven fuel consignments of uranium will be delivered to Rooppur within the next few weeks, according to senior officials of the power plant.

"The fourth batch fresh fuel consignment has reached the Rooppur project site at 9.33am on Friday [tpday] amidst special security measures, the same as taken while carrying previous batches." Ruhul Kuddus, site officer-in-charge of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, told the press.

The fourth batch of the radioactive fuel was unloaded at the Dhaka airport on Thursday and was later carried to the project site under special security arrangement of the Bangladesh Army, he said.

Power plant officials received the fuel consignment when it reached the project site, he added.
