Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal announced today that the government will not block access to Dhaka's entry points or any roads leading to BNP's rally scheduled for October 28.

He emphasized that Bangladesh is a democratic nation that allows for the peaceful execution of political activities. Nevertheless, if there is a potential for public disturbance, law enforcement agencies will take necessary legal measures, as he stated during a press conference at the Secretariat following a law-and-order meeting connected to Victory Day.

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal pointed out that the police commissioners are well-informed about the BNP's rally request. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner is familiar with the details of the BNP's rally request, which has been publicized through newspapers and social media. The BNP intends to draw participants from across the country. As a result, the commissioner will use this information to determine a suitable location, although official permission for the rally has not been granted yet.

The BNP has announced this rally as a means to push for the government's resignation and the organization of the upcoming national elections under a non-partisan caretaker government.

Responding to questions about the possibility of the situation worsening, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal clarified that the government is not easily toppled. It is a democratic administration that was elected by the people. After its term, elections will be held, leading to a change in government. The constitution does not stipulate that the government can be overthrown by external pressure.

He emphasized that law enforcement agencies are entrusted with safeguarding the constitution, and if the BNP attempts to operate outside the constitutional framework, law enforcement will fulfill its responsibility accordingly.
