Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said that since the announcement of the schedule of the 12th election, the current government will serve as the government during the election.

The minister said this while talking to reporters at his office in the capital's secretariat on Thursday (October 26).

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has already announced that the national election schedule will be announced in the middle of November. The vote will be in early January. Opposition parties including BNP have been demanding a neutral government during elections.

When asked about the election government, the law minister said that when the Election Commission announces the schedule, this government will be the election government.

Stating that there is no chance of bringing back the caretaker government system, Anisul Huq said that BNP-Jamaat has tried to thwart the elections every time.

Meanwhile, the constitution now does not mention anything called an electoral government. On May 10, 2011, the Supreme Court declared the caretaker government system unconstitutional, and on June 30 of that year, Parliament amended the constitution and brought back voting under the elected government. After three consecutive elections under the caretaker government, the 10th parliamentary election was held on 5 January 2014 under the party government.

An interim government was formed before that election. Although Sheikh Hasina is the prime minister, the size of the cabinet is small. After the election, the new government did not make any policy decisions until it was sworn in. They just do routine work.

Even before the 11th National Parliament elections on December 30, 2018, Sheikh Hasina formed the election government in this way.
