The families of the passengers who died in the Bhairab train accident in Kishoreganj will be given one lakh taka initially. Railway Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujon said that those who are under treatment will be given medical expenses by the Ministry of Railways.
This was said by the Railway Minister in an exchange meeting with journalists in the meeting room of the Railway Building on Thursday (October 26). He said that an investigation committee had been formed to probe the Bhairab rail accident.
The railway minister said that the committee has been asked to submit the investigation report within the next seven days. We have suspended three people involved in this incident. Action will be taken against those responsible. We initially thought that the accident happened due to the negligence or incapacity of the loco-master.
He said I have come here today with a heavy heart. The first accident after I took charge of the railways killed 21 people. After a long time, another grave accident happened.
The Railway Minister said I was out of the country on October 23 to attend the First Asian Rail Summit. I also had a personal secretary during this visit. A few others went with him. I was supposed to stay there till October 27. But after this accident, I canceled the journey and came back to Dhaka last night.
