At least 35 political parties, including Awami League and BNP, will hold a rally in the capital on Saturday (October 28). Security has been beefed up across the capital ahead of the rally. Dhaka has already been covered with security.

According to information, the police allowed the Awami League to rally at Baitul Mukarram's South Gate and the BNP at Nayapaltan. Apart from this, various political parties including Jamaat-e-Islami, 12-party alliance, nationalist like-minded alliance, LDP, People's Rights Parishad will hold rallies at different places. Leaders and activists are starting to come to the rally site since Friday night.

Meanwhile, there is fear of conflict around the counter rallies of the political parties. The cause of concern around today's rally is the memory of this day 17 years ago. On October 28, 2006, a massive clash started from the assembly of Awami League, BNP and Jamaat on the issue of caretaker government. Several people died in the clashes and violence throughout the day. At one point, a state of emergency was declared. There is panic in the public mind around the gathering of these three parties on the same issue today. However, BNP said that the rally will end peacefully. However, thinking about the safety of the people, the ruling leaders have asked the activists to be on alert at every corner of the capital.

On the other hand, the police have made all necessary preparations to avoid any kind of conflict. Dhaka has already been covered with security. There are 15 thousand members of RAB and police in the field. Members of various organizations are also working to ensure security. Security checkpoints have been installed at the entrances and intersections of Dhaka.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB's media wing, said that checkpoints have been set up at the entrances of Dhaka so that no one can carry any weapons or explosives for sabotage during the rally.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Additional Commissioner of Police Mohammad Haroon Ur Rashid said that lakhs of people will gather in Dhaka around the rally. Because of this, the police patrol team is working to ensure the safety of Dhaka city. Keeping in view the risk, the patrols and check posts of Thana Police, DB Police and other law enforcement agencies have been strengthened. Various places are being searched.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that any political party has the right to hold peaceful political movements, processions, meetings and gatherings in the constitution. Police also provide security in these cases. But if anyone tries to create a violent situation under the cover of the program, it will be severely suppressed.
