Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has indicated that there will be many cases of attacks on police, journalists, government property, and burning of vehicles on the day of BNP's general meeting.

He said this in a press conference at the Secretariat today Sunday (October 29) during the strike called by BNP.

In response to a question, the minister said that the case has started, and many people will file the case. Those who are affected will file a case. Journalists will also file cases.

Addressing the journalists present at the press conference, he said, "I don't know whether you will file a case or not." The police will file cases, the hospital will file cases, and those affected will file cases. If you file a case voluntarily, it will be taken by the police. We will take cases accordingly by identifying them specifically.

After the general meeting of BNP was called in Dhaka on Saturday to demand the re-introduction of the caretaker government during the election period and the resignation of the current government, there was a heat in politics. The party's announcement was that from this day, their great journey of movement will begin.

On the same day, Awami League and Jamaat-e-Islami also called for a rally in the capital, increasing the heat. The two parties were allowed to hold rallies at their preferred locations the previous night, which seemed to ease political tensions. However, the Jamaat was informed that the assembly would not be allowed.

The Jamaat did not get permission but held the rally. However, after the clashes in Kakrail and Vijaynagar, near Naya Paltan, the BNP rally was put on hold. After that, the party called for a strike across the country on Sunday.

On the day of the rally, several cars were vandalized and set on fire in the clashes, journalists were attacked extensively.

According to the journalists' organization BFUJ, more than 30 journalists have been beaten up. Many of them are now hospitalized.

The Chief Justice's residence was also under attack. A policeman was beaten to death, for which a Chhatra Dal leader was blamed, the Home Minister said, adding that they have photo evidence.

Several videos of attacks on police have gone viral on Facebook. A leader of the youth party also died on this day.

Several vehicles were set on fire in the capital after the BNP called a strike.
