Commenting that the Prime Ministership is nothing to me, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, my only goal is to build Bangladesh as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted.

She said these things at the special convocation ceremony organized at the central playground of Dhaka University on Sunday (October 29).

The Premier said, I had only one goal, the power will be to achieve the welfare of the people. To build the country as the father of the nation wanted. That's what I'm trying to do. Today, Bangladesh has progressed a lot by following the ideals of the father of the nation. We got the status of a developing country from a least developed country. Which will be implemented in 2026. If the state is governed by the ideals of the father of the nation, then Bangladesh will not look back. Many countries have joined us, and many have gone backwards. But we did not back down.

Sheikh Hasina said, I want all our students and teachers to retain our achievements. Through this, we have to move forward. We must not forget the great sacrifice that the father of the nation has made for Bangladesh. Because you know his language movement, his history.

The head of government also said that we have been in power for the last 15 years. From 2009 to today 2023, it is now a changed Bangladesh. Today's students cannot realize what Bangladesh was like 20 years ago. There was hunger and poverty, nothing scientific. We came to power in 1996 and introduced science and computer education.

The Prime Minister said, we have achieved our independence at the cost of many sacrifices. We will deliver the benefits of this freedom to every home. We announced the construction of Digital Bangladesh, implemented it. Now we will build a smart Bangladesh. We are doing everything to move the country forward.

In the event, Bangabandhu of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was posthumously awarded the honorary degree of 'Doctor of Laws' by Dhaka University. On behalf of the university, the president of the special convocation Professor Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman handed over the degree of Bangabandhu to Bangabandhu's daughter and convocation speaker Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
