Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that two people have been arrested in connection with the death of police constable Amirul Parvez in a clash with BNP in Fakirapool of the capital yesterday.
DMP Commissioner went to participate in Amirul's funeral prayers at the Rajarbagh police line today.
Speaking to the policemen at that time, he said, 'We will do whatever is necessary to ensure maximum punishment for those who killed our policeman.'
He also said, 'We have already arrested 2 accused directly involved in the murder.'
Police said Shamim is the convener of Palashbari Paura Juba Dal in Gaibandha district. He was arrested from Gaibandha and Sultan from Demra in Dhaka.
The deceased constable Amirul Parvez was in the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Branch of DMP. His house is in Daulatpur of Manikganj district.
He was seriously injured in a clash with BNP yesterday afternoon in Fakirapool area. He was hit on the head.
Policemen and passers-by took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from Fakirapool. Doctors declared him dead at 4:30 p.m.
In this incident, the police filed a case against the BNP leaders and activists at Paltan police station early on Sunday morning.
