Swechchha Sebok League Leader Killed In AL-BNP Clash In Lalmonirhat

A volunteer league leader named Jahangir Hossain was killed in a clash between Awami League and BNP in Lalmonirhat during the hartal called by BNP across the country. 10 more people were injured in the clash.

Meanwhile, there was a clash between Awami League and BNP in Aditmari Upazila of the district. The Upazila office of the BNP has been vandalized. 4 motorcycles, including two of the police, were vandalized at the city's Mission intersection.

BNP leaders and activists started protesting and picketing at different places in Lalmonirhat on Sunday (October 29) morning. At around 10:30 a.m., BNP leaders and activists started protesting in support of the strike by taking a stand on the road in Saptibari Bazar. At one point, when the General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Rafiqul Alam came out with an anti-hartal procession, the chase began. Two workers of BNP were beaten and injured.

Later, Awami League leaders took a procession in front of Aditmari Upazila BNP office at around eleven o'clock in the morning. When the clash started, two people from both sides were injured. Meanwhile, Awami League supporters vandalized BNP office chairs and signboards. Later BNP activists fled from there. Currently, as the situation is heated, additional police have been deployed there.

Meanwhile, at the same time, the BNP-Awami League clashed in Mahendranagar of Sadar Upazila. Meanwhile, Sadar Upazila's Gokuda Union, Joint General Secretary of Volunteer League and Govt. Bafa Godown's Load Unload Workers' Union Joint General Secretary Jahangir was seriously injured. Later he was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Also, the former secretary of Union Svechsevak League Raju, and Awami League leader Bablu Mia were also hacked and injured by BNP activists.

Meanwhile, BNP supporters vandalized 4 motorcycles including two police motorcycles in the Mission Mor area of the city.

No one from the immediate administration agreed to comment on the matter.

Lalmonirhat District Awami League Publicity Secretary Mehedi Hasan said that the BNP leaders and activists have been acting violently with indigenous weapons and sticks since morning in the name of hartal. Jubo League leader Jahangir was found alone by BNP leaders and activists. He died of excessive bleeding. He also said that the preparation of the case is going on in this incident.
