Govt Announces 2 Hajj Packages

The government has announced two separate Hajj travel packages for 2024.

The general package will cost Tk 578,840 per person and the specialised one Tk 936,320 per person, State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan said at a media briefing in Dhaka on Thursday (November 1).

The government announced only one Hajj travel package last year with the minimum price set at Tk 683,018 per person.

“The new packages, decided by the government at a meeting with the executive committee on Hajj management, have been announced earlier so that people can make preparations in advance. People with a limited budget will get an opportunity to perform Hajj under these packages,” Khan said.

The Muslim pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia will begin around Jun 16 next year, with the exact date subject to the appearance of the moon.

This year, 127,000 pilgrims from Bangladesh will be able to make the journey. Of them, 10,198 will be able to do so through a package trip offered by the government, while the rest will travel through private agencies.
