Webinar Held On The Role of Media In Welfare of Disabled

On the occasion of the 32nd International and 25th National Disability Day on Sunday (December 3), ‘Nohor Initiatives’ an organization serving the disabled, organized a webinar titled "Role of Media in Advancing Persons with Disabilities". The webinar organized at 8:30 pm on Sunday night. Several media workers of the country participated in the discussion regarding the the role of the media for the disabled and various issues to be done for them. MM Nazmul Hasan (Reporter, PIB), Zafar Khan (Joint News Editor, Shampratik Deshkal), Hasan Mahamud (Chief Reporter, RisingBD Dot Com), Asif Rahman (Senior Producer, Nagrik TV), Muhammad Aminul Islam (GM Marketing, Anand TV) participated in the webinar. Halima Akhtar conducted the session as moderator. 

At that time, PIB reporter Nazmul Hasan said in his speech, through family and social awareness, such a protection zone should be created for the disabled from the grassroots level as they are no longer victimized in the society. He also commented that the participation of people from all walks of life is necessary to take proper and effective steps for them.

Zafar Khan from Shampratik Deshkal said that it is the time to rasie voice from media to take a strong role staying with the disabled. Also to implement all of the rights issues for them from the perspective of  social and state’s need to be done properly . They are not a pity in the society but we have to consider them as an asset of our state.

At this time, he called on everyone to convey the message of all the demands and rights of the disabled to the all levels through the media.

Hassan Mahmud, Chief Reporter of Rising BD participated in the webinar and demanded to create an environment of employment for them at all levels of the country along with awareness.

He said that the media needs to take proper steps on how to turn this huge population into a manpower and letting them allow to participate for the economic progress of the country, not in the eyes of negligence.

Among others, Asif Rahman of Nagrik TV said, we need to think how to use disabled people in the country's GDP. At this time, he requested the media as well as the rich people of the society to play a strong role in the welfare of humanity.

Later, an employee of the IT department of the organization presented a pleasant and interesting power point presentation made by disabled people on the various activities conducted by Nohor Initiatives.

Needs to mention that Nohor Initiatives has been working with disabled women and men across the country for the past few years. Besides providing training in various subjects including IT, digital training, the organization is working on how to utilize their talent for the welfare of society and country by creating employment.
