Quoting family members and local people, Abdul Matin said that a group of seven people made an attempt to enter India illegally crossing the River Padma on December 19.

‘They all wanted to go to Chennai in search of job. But, five of them came back home after being chased by Indian Boarder Security Force while Kawsar and Musa went missing’, he said.

The police official said that the local fishermen first noticed the bodies of the youths that were floating in a cove of the Padma, about one kilometer inside Bangladesh territory.

‘A case of unnatural death was filed with the police station’, he said, adding that the bodies were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for post-mortem exainations.

Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh Rajshahi-1 battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Matinul Islam said that the families of the two deceased informed them about their disappearance two days ago.
