3 Killed As Truck Hits Pickup In M'singh

Three people, including the driver, were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup truck in Mymensingh’s Tarakanda Upazila.

The accident occurred on the Mymensingh-Sherpur highway in front of Tarakanda Upazila Health Complex around 7:30 am on Tuesday (January 23).

The deceased are – pickup driver Kamrul Islam, 22, son of Abdul Latif of Ghoshber village under Haluaghat police station of the district, Abdul Qadir, 45, son of Usan Ali of Sandhakura village, and Mizanur Rahman, 48, son of Ramzan Ali of Akonpara village.

Confirming the matter, Tarakanda police station OC Md. Wazed Ali said that a sugar-laden pickup from Sherpur was heading towards Dhaka. After reaching in front of the Tarakanda Upazila Health Complex around 7:30 am, the pickup collided head-on with a potato-laden truck coming from the opposite direction. Pickup driver Kamrul Islam was killed on the spot. 

At that time, the locals rescued Abdul Qadir and Mizanur Rahman, passengers of the pickup, who were seriously injured and took them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead, OC Md. Wazed Ali also said.
