The temporary disruption of metro rail service today around noon was attributed to a satellite TV cable being thrown onto a power line.
MAN Siddique, the managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd, reported that an individual had thrown the cable onto the electric line between Farmgate and Shahbagh stations. The police are actively searching for the person responsible, as mentioned by Siddique to the media.
The incident led to an approximate 15-minute disruption in metro rail services starting from approximately 12:10 pm, as confirmed by metro rail officials. Service resumed after staff members successfully removed the satellite TV cable from the power line, according to Siddique.
Following the suspension of service, numerous passengers were observed waiting in crowds at different stations. Some trains were instructed to slow down, while others were temporarily halted on the tracks.
