In the Noykhyangchari area of Bandarban, an incident of continuous armed conflict between the military forces and insurgents in Myanmar has resulted in the tragic death of two individuals on the border.

According to the locals, the victims include Begum Hasina (55), a resident of Jolpaitali in the upazila, and another individual identified as a Rohingya citizen of Myanmar. The detailed identity of the latter has not been confirmed.

Anwarul Islam, a member of Ward 5 of Ghumdhum Union, confirmed the information on Monday (February 5th). He stated that Hasina Begum succumbed to the impact of gunfire originating from across the border in Myanmar during an attack that occurred during the afternoon.

At that time, she was having lunch at her home. However, the detailed identity of the Rohingya individual remains unknown.

"The Ghumdhum area experiences sporadic and intense gunfire from the early morning, sometimes persisting continuously. Until 3:00 PM, gunfire has been observed from the Myanmar border into the Ghumdhum area.

Additionally, there have been reports of fire in the BGB camp of the BNP in the Ghumdhum camp. At this time, helicopters are also seen dropping gunfire from the sky onto the Myanmar border.

Border residents are living in fear due to the ongoing tension. Local people have taken refuge in the homes of relatives and loved ones in fear," Anwarul Islam explained.
