Mortar Shell From Myanmar Lands In Bangladesh Again

Once again, a mortar shell fired by Myanmar exploded inside the Ghumdhum border of Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban. Although no one was injured, the windows and trees of the residence of a brave freedom fighter were reported to have been destroyed.

Today, Tuesday (February 6) around 9:30 am, a mortar shell hit the house of freedom fighter Nurul Islam near Ghumdhum High School.

Freedom fighter Nurul Islam's son Monirul Islam confirmed this information. He said that around 9:30 in the morning, a mortar shell exploded in the house with a loud noise. At this time, the windows and trees of the homestead were damaged. The loud noise spread panic in the area. But no one was injured.

After receiving the news, BGB members arrived at the spot and took part of the mortar shell as a sample. Since then there has been panic on the border. People are leaving their homes and taking shelter elsewhere.

Earlier on Monday (February 5) at noon, two Bangladeshis, including a Bangladeshi, were killed by a mortar shell fired from Myanmar on the Tumbru border in the Jalpaitoli area of Ward No. 4 of Ghumdhum UP of Naikhongchhari Upazila. A Rohingya worker (55) was killed on the spot. Hossain Ara died on the way to the hospital. She is the wife of local businessman Badsha Mia. The Rohingya man used to work in that house on a daily wage basis. His identity is unknown.

Meanwhile, as of Tuesday (February 6) morning, 113 members of the Border Guard Police (BGP) have fled to Bangladesh due to ongoing clashes inside Myanmar. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) disarmed them and took them to safe haven. Public relations officer of BGB Md. Shariful Islam said that further activities are ongoing in this regard.
