Due to the volatile situation in Myanmar, there has been instability along the Bangladesh border. As a result, the administration has announced the suspension of all tourist vessel operations on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route starting this Saturday, February 10th. However, ship services from Cox's Bazar and Chattogram to Saint Martin will continue as usual.

The extra-district magistrate of Cox's Bazar, M. Yamin Hossein, confirmed this information on Wednesday night. He stated that due to security concerns, all tourist vessel operations from Teknaf to Saint Martin will remain suspended until further notice. In this regard, all vessels will operate until Friday, after which further instructions from the government will be followed.

M. Yamin further mentioned that although tourist vessel operations from Teknaf are suspended, ship services from Chittagong and Cox's Bazar will remain unaffected.

Earlier on Wednesday, Major General Mohammad Ashraful Alam Siddique, the Inspector General of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), inspected the border areas of Naikhongchhari Upazila in Bandarban district and adjacent areas, including the BGB observation post. Later, during a press conference at Ghumdhum High School ground, when asked by journalists whether ship services on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route would be suspended, he replied that it was a matter of common sense. He also commented that there would be no significant loss if tourists refrain from visiting Saint Martin during this period.
