Meeting Held Between Hasan Mahmud-Jaishankar

Foreign Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that there was an open and detailed discussion with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in a very sincere atmosphere.

He said this after a private and then a formal bilateral meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at Hyderabad House in Delhi on the evening of February 8, Wednesday (February 7).

The foreign minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the relations between the two countries have reached a new height, and discussions were held to deepen and deepen the relations between the two countries.

Effective start of India's use of Chattogram and Mongla ports to increase communication, support issues related to power sources as well as the return of Rohingyas to their native country Myanmar with full rights and the ongoing situation in Myanmar were discussed, said Dr. Hasan.

Bangladesh High Commissioner M Mustafizur Rahman, India's  External Affairs Ministry's Joint Secretary Smita Pant, and senior officials of the two countries were present in the formal meeting.

Hasan Mahmud on his first bilateral visit after taking charge as Foreign Minister at the invitation of  Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held a meeting with India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Wednesday afternoon. After the meeting at Sardar Patel Bhavan, the Foreign Minister paid floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi's cremation ground and memorial square at Rajghat and signed the monument visitation book.

In the afternoon, the Foreign Minister laid a wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Press Club of India. He visited the Bangabandhu Corner inaugurated by Hasan Mahmud during his tenure as Information Minister in 2021 at the Press Club and interacted with journalists.

The foreign minister is scheduled to hold a speech at the Vivekananda Foundation today Thursday and tomorrow Friday and a series of bilateral meetings with India's Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
