HC Declares The Verdict On The Issue Of Japanese Children

Japanese baby Jasmine Malika (elder) and her younger sister Sonya will stay with their Japanese mother Eriko Nakano. The High Court has ruled that Laila Leena will be with her Bangladeshi father Imran Sharif. According to the verdict, Japanese citizen Eriko Nakano can live in Bangladesh or any country with her first and third daughter. However, the father would get a chance to meet his children. Similarly, second daughter Laila Leena could stay with her Bangladeshi father Imran Sharif. However, the Japanese mother will get the opportunity to see her second daughter.

The single bench of HC judge Justice Mamnoon Rahman passed the order after accepting a review appeal in this regard.

Senior lawyer Barrister Akhtar Imam, Barrister Rashna Imam, Advocate Nasima Akhter Lovely heard on behalf of Imran Sharif in the court. On the other hand Barrister Ajmalul Hossain KC, Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir appeared for Nakano Erico.

Earlier, the District Judge Court of Dhaka ruled that the two Japanese children Jasmine Malika and Laina Lina in Bangladesh will stay with their Japanese mother. Imran Sharif filed a revision petition in the High Court against this verdict.

On March 9 last year, the Appellate Division rejected the appeal of a Japanese mother to take two Japanese children, Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina, abroad. At the same time, the court ordered the appeal district judge court to settle the matter within three months regarding who will have custody of the two children. Till this time the two children Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina would remain as they are.

The 7-judge appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique gave this order.

Earlier, on January 29 of last year, the court ordered that the two children of Bangladeshi father Imran Sharif and Japanese mother Nakano Eriko should be kept in the custody under the Japanese mother Eriko Nakano. This judgment was given keeping in mind the welfare of two minor children Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina. Dhaka Second Additional Assistant Judge and Family Court Judge Durdana Rahman gave the verdict.
