In the face of imminent danger from the incursion of the Arakan Army, a total of 330 Myanmar citizens, including members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), have sought refuge in Bangladesh, fearing for their lives. They have been sheltered temporarily in the naval jetty of Inani before being transported back to their homeland via a naval vessel.

In a prearranged meeting between the two nations on Thursday morning (February 15), a brief discussion will take place, followed by the issuance of health certificates before their departure onboard the vessel. Once the transfer process is complete, the Coast Guard will accompany them to the deep sea, ensuring their safe return.

Present at the meeting will be Myanmar's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Mr. Ang Kyaw Moe, alongside Major General Mohammad Ashraful Islam Siddique, the Director-General of the BGB, Cox's Bazar Region Commander Morshed Alam, district administrators, and other officials from relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, the internal situation in Myanmar continues to escalate, with clashes intensifying between government forces and insurgent groups. In the Rakhine state, members of the Arakan Army's attack resulted in several casualties among Myanmar's government border security forces. Seeking refuge, some members of the security forces crossed into Bangladesh, where they received shelter, while two Bangladeshi nationals lost their lives in the conflict, and several others sustained injuries.

The escalating conflict in Myanmar's Rakhine state remains a cause for concern, prompting neighboring Bangladesh to extend humanitarian aid to those affected by the violence.
