The iconic 'Sugondha Beach' in Cox's Bazar has been renamed as 'Bangabandhu Beach.' Simultaneously, the 'Sugondha Beach' and the vacant area between Sugondha Beach and Kolatoli Beach have been named 'Bir Muktijoddha Beach.'

The information has been disclosed in a letter signed by Md. Shaheb Uddin, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, yesterday (Monday, February 19th).

According to the letter, the decision to rename the two beaches was made at the 13th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on the proposal of M.d Solayman Mia, Chairman of the Central Council of Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Children Parliament.

Additional DIG of Tourist Police Cox's Bazar region and Vice Chairman of Central Council of Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Parliament Apel Mahmud said that Cox's Bazar beach is known to local and foreign tourists. As a result, we applied to name these two beaches to keep the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the best sons of the nation, the brave freedom fighters.
