High Court Order To Translate Fundamental Laws In Bangla

The High Court has ordered to form of a committee to make the existing fundamental laws of the country in Bangla.

The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zeenat Haque passed this order on Thursday (February 29) after hearing a writ in this regard.

According to the order of the High Court, a representative of the Ministry of Law, a representative of the Law Commission, a representative of Bangla Academy, a representative of the Bangla Department of Dhaka University and a representative of the Law Department of Dhaka University will be in this committee. The committee has been asked to submit a progress report to the High Court on the implementation of laws in Bangla within the next 6 months.

Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir heard on behalf of the writ in the court today. After the order, this lawyer said, "As the prevailing laws of the country are in English, judgments and orders are in English." If the laws are in Bangla, it will be possible to give judgments and orders literally in Bangla.

10 lawyers of the Supreme Court filed a writ to formulate and publish the existing fundamental law of the country in Bangla. Those 10 lawyers are - Mostafizur Rahman, Mir Osman bin Nasim, Md. Asad Uddin, Moha. Mujahidul Islam, Md. Zobayedur Rahman, Md. Abdus Sabur Dewan, Al Reza. Amir, Abdullah Hill Maruf Fahim, GM Mujahidur Rahman and Md. Zahirul Islam.

The fundamental laws of the country include the Penal Code, 1860, Evidence Act, 1972, Contract Act, 1872, Specific Remedies Act, 1877, Civil Courts Act, 1887, Transfer of Property Act, 1882, Criminal Procedure Code, 1898, Civil Procedure Code, 1908 and Tamadi Act, 1908.
