RAB Arrests 58 Brokers From DMCH

The mobile court of RAB has sentenced 58 brokers involved in sending patients to different private hospitals for receiving commission and extorting money through harassment for various tasks including admission of patients who came for treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

RAB-3 intelligence team arrested 65 brokers from different departments of DMK Hospital on Monday (March 4) morning. Later seven people were released after verification. RAB Executive Magistrate Mazharul Islam sentenced the remaining 58 people in various ways.

Later, RAB-3 captain Lt. Col. Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed held a press conference on the matter at the Bagan Gate of DMK Hospital at 3:00 p.m.

He said, based on intelligence information, we have received information about sharing patients, demanding large sums of money by getting seats, and selling blood to drug addicts in various blood banks. We have collected data including their movements and videos here for a month. We have the evidence of the arrestees.

He said that 65 people involved in the incident were arrested and seven people were released after verification. RAB Executive Magistrate Mazharul Islam sentenced the remaining 58 people to different terms. We have caught a small number of brokers today. This campaign will continue. From here, drives will also be conducted in those hospitals where patients are distributed.

This official of RAB said that there is a huge syndicate of these brokers in Dhaka Medical. The drives will continue to arrest those who are involved in this circle, including the masterminds of these syndicates. There are about 150 to 200 brokers. If they are punished, they will do the same thing again after serving in jail. He also commented that it is an ongoing issue and cannot be eradicated so easily.
