Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and advocate Shah Monjurul Hoque have been elected as the president and general secretary respectively of the Supreme Court Bar Association for the 2024-2025 session.

The election results were announced by the convener of the election sub-committee, senior lawyer Abul Khayer, at 9pm on Saturday, following the polling held on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the presidential race, AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, supported by the BNP-Jamaat backed blue panel, secured 2,622 votes, while his opponent, Abu Sayeed Sagor, backed by the Awami League white panel, received 2,539 votes.

For the position of general secretary, Shah Monjurul Hoque, representing the white panel, garnered 2,891 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Md Ruhul Quddus (Kajal) from the blue panel, who received 1,702 votes.

In addition to the general secretary, the white panel supported by the Awami League won ten out of fourteen posts, including two vice-presidents, two assistant general secretaries, treasurer, and four executive members. The remaining four posts, including the presidency and three executive member positions, were secured by the blue panel supported by the BNP.
