Dr. Yunus Granted Bail Extension In Labor Law Violation Case

In a case of violation of labor laws, the deadline for bail of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chairman of Grameen Telecom and Nobel laureate, has been extended until April 16th by the court.

The court informed about this information in a written order today, Monday (March 11th). Dr. Yunus and 4 others are required to appear in court on that day.

Earlier, on March 3rd, bail deadlines for Dr. Muhammad Yunus and 4 co-accused were extended by the court. Justice M. A. Awal, the judge of the Labor Appeals Tribunal, granted bail extension alongside scheduling the appeal hearing for April 16th.

However, the court did not specify the duration of bail for others on that day. The court stated that the bail deadline will be mentioned in the written order.

In a case of labor law violation on January 1st, Dr. Yunus and 4 co-accused were sentenced to six months' imprisonment by the Labor Court.

Additionally, they were directed to pay workers' arrears within a month. Dr. Yunus and the four others appealed against the verdict on January 28th.

Later, the appeal was accepted for hearing by the court. Subsequently, Dr. Yunus granted bail to the four co-accused until March 3rd.
