Lalon Smaran Utshab (memorial festival) will be held at Lalon akhra (shrine) in Cheuria, Kushtia on Sunday.

The Lalon Academy will organize this event with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the deputy commissioner. On the day of the festival, a discussion meeting will be arranged at the open stage of the akhra.

The meeting will be chaired by Kustia Deputy Commissioner and Kushtia Lalon Academy President Md Ehtasham Reza.

Every year, the Lalon Smaran Utshab turns the area into a gathering place for saints, devotees, and visitors. A rural fair is usually held on the banks of the Kali River at the akhra premises. However, this year's arrangements have been scaled down.

This year's festival will be held for only one day instead of the usual three days. Additionally, there will be no rural fair organized around the commemoration. This decision was made due to Ramadan, the holiest month for Muslims.

Regarding this, Lalon Academy President Md Ehtasham Reza said: "This year, due to the Lalon Smaran Utshab coinciding with the month of Ramadan, it will be confined to a one-day discussion. The rural fair associated with the Lalon Smaran Utshab will not be held this year. All preparations have been made accordingly."

During his lifetime, Baul Emperor Lalon Shah used to celebrate the Sadhu Sang Festival with bauls on the night of the full moon of Chaitra at this akhra in Cheuria. After his death, his followers have continued this festival.
