MV Abdullah, a Bangladeshi-flagged ship carrying Somali pirates, is currently stationed off the coast of the country in the Gulf of Aden. Local police have launched a campaign to disrupt communication among the pirates aboard the vessel, which is surrounded from all sides.
Additionally, the European Union's naval force, Operation Atalanta, is keeping watch over the ship at sea.
According to a report by the BBC Somali service, it has been stated that the pirates are unable to organize themselves and are stationed at various locations due to the lack of support from the local area.
The Somali police have taken positions in different areas to prevent any assistance from reaching the ship. Furthermore, international forces are keeping the ship under surveillance at sea.
The report further mentions that Commander Mohammad Ali Ahmed Maraduf of the Puntland Police, an autonomous region in Somalia, stated, "MV Abdullah is currently in the coastal area of Gulf.
We have launched a campaign in the region to disrupt communication among the pirates so that they do not receive any support from the land."
