Order To Remove Internet-Dish Cable Near Metrorail Line For Safety

Internet and DSC cables have been laid in 51 buildings over MRT Line 6 of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). The Metrorail authority has written to remove these cable TV lines (dish lines) and internet from various buildings crossing over the viaduct and overhead catenary system of the Metrorail route alignment within 24 hours.

Yesterday Thursday (March 28) a letter was sent to the President and Secretary of the Internet Service Provider Association of Bangladesh to take action in this regard.

In this regard, the letter signed by Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-6) project director Md Aftabuddin Talukder said that the MRT line 6 operated under DMTCL is now running commercially from 7:10 am to 10:14 pm daily except Friday. The people of Dhaka Metropolis are enjoying the benefits of safe, comfortable and short metro rail travel. Now an average of two lakh 90 thousand passengers are traveling by metro train every day.

The letter also states that cable TV line (dish line), internet cable line etc. has been provided to various buildings over the viaduct and overhead catenary system of the alignment of this route. As per preliminary survey, around 51 buildings are currently provided with such connections. It has the possibility of snapping the cable at any moment and falling on the high capacity metro rail viaduct and overhead catenary system, causing a fatal accident. The danger of such accidents is more during the ongoing monsoon season.

The letter specifically requested to take necessary measures to remove cable TV lines (dish lines), internet cables etc. from various buildings passing over the viaduct and overhead catenary system within the next 24 hours. Otherwise, DMTCL will take legal action, it was also informed.

This letter has been sent to Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh President ABM Saiful Hossain and Secretary Md Imdadul Haque.
