Another 49 KNF Members Held in Bandarban

Another 49 people were arrested in the operation of joint forces in Ruma of Bandarban. At this time, 7 weapons were seized. They were arrested after carrying out this operation against the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) on Monday (April 8).

Confirming the matter, Bandarban Superintendent of Police (SP) Saikat Shaheen said that an operation is underway against the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in Ruma hills. 49 more people were arrested in this operation.

It is reported that law enforces also seized a jeep in connection with the recent bank heist in Bandarban district on Sunday night and Monday.

Among the arrestess, four were identified as Bhannu Nuam Bom, 25, resident of Rowangchari upazila, and Geminiu Bom, 24, Ame Loncheo Bom, 25, and Kafil Uddin, 28, residents of Thanchi upazila.

Three of them were arrested from Reicha check-post of Bandarban-Chattogram highway on Sunday night while Kafil was arrested from T&T Para in Bandarban on Monday, said the Bandarban district police in a press release on Monday.

Arrested Geminiu and Ame are siblings while Kafil was driver of the seized jeep which was used during the bank heist on 2 April, said sources.

Officer in-Charge (OC) Jasim Uddin of Thanchi police station said the armed members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) used two jeeps for robbing the banks at Thanchi on 3 April.

Earlier, the assistant cashier of Sonali Bank in Ruma and 5 more members of the KNF were arrested in a joint operation on Sunday (April 7). At this time, 7 firearms were seized from them.

Besides, RAB arrested the local chief coordinator of KNF, Cheosim Bom, in a special operation in Bandarban at 5 am on Sunday (April 7).

Noted that during the Tarawih prayers at around 9 pm on April 2, an armed group of hill terrorists entered the Sonali Bank branch in Ruma, Bandarban and broke the vault of the bank and looted money. At that time, they also looted the weapons of the policemen engaged in law and order in the bank. At the same time, the bank manager Nizam Uddin was kidnapped from the mosque. 

Armed terrorists attacked three branches of Sonali and Krishi Bank in Thanchi on Wednesday (April 3) afternoon. After that, the operation of joint forces started against them.
