Dhaka-Tangail- Bangabandhu Bridge Highway Under Huge Traffic Congestion

Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr almost 2 million people left the capital by rail, bus and waterways for their destination to celebrate the Eid with their souls and families. Meanwhile gradually the pressure of the transports on the highways has been increased. In accordance with 20-kilometre tailback has been created on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway since early Tuesday.

This time traffic jam was seen from the east side of Bangabandhu Bridge to Rabana Bypass, causing immense sufferings to the eid holidaymakers and drivers.

The highway is witnessing huge pressure of transports and a number of people were seen travelling on trucks to go to their destinations.

According to the police and drivers, the pressure of vehicles on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway was created as 12 vehicles were not moveable on the highway due to minor accidents and mechanical glitches.

Also Elenga Highway Police Outpost in-charge, Sajedur Rahman, said on early Tuesday that the traffic congestion was caused due to the increased pressure of vehicles and mechanical glitches of a few vehicles at various points on the highway.

said that policemen were working to ease the traffic jam and hoped that the traffic movement would become normal with the progress of the day.

Local residents confirmed that vehicles were seen to remain standstill on the roads for hours early in the morning.
