Bangladesh’s Different Districts Celebrate Eid In Line With Saudi

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today in different parts of Bangladesh in line with Saudi Arabia. People from different parts of the country are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday (April 10) after hearing the news of a moon sighting in Saudi Arabia. 

As per that news of Eid celebration has been received in many districts including Chattogram, Chandpur, Dinajpur, Jhenaidah, Patuakhali, Munshiganj, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Satkhira, Sherpur, Barishal, Moulvibazar, Pirojpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Jamalpur, and Barguna. 

Chattogram

Saudi Arabia is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday. In line with them, residents of 60 villages such as Mirzarkhil in Satkania, Gatiya Denga in Eochia, Madarsha, Moishamura in Khagaria, Purangarh, Suipura of Charati, Kanchannagar in Chandanaish, Harala, Bainjuri, Kanaimadari, Satbaria, Barkal, Dohazari, Jamirjuri, Kalipur in Banshkhali, Chambal, Shekerkheel, Chanua, Barumchhara and Toilardeep in Anwara are celebrating Eid.

Dinajpur

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated on Wednesday in some places of different upazilas in the district including Dinajpur Sadar. Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today in some other areas of the district including Dinajpur, Chirirbandar, Kaharole, Birampur, and Birganj.

Jamalpur

At least 15 villages of Jamalpur’s Sarishabari upazila are celebrating Eid. More than 500 men and women of Bolardiar, Moolbari, Satpoa, Sancharpar, Panchapir, Pakhadubi, Balia, Bangram, Hosnabad, Bausi, Puthiarpar, Bagarpar, Patabuga and Dakshin Bolardiar villages of Sarishabari upazila offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

Jhenaidah

Muslim pilgrims from some villages are also celebrating Eid at Harinakundu in Jhenaidah on Wednesday. Apart from this, small Eid congregations were also held in Payradanga, Valki, and Nityanandpur of the upazila.

Patuakhali

Eid is being celebrated in 27 villages of the district including Patuakhali Badarpur Darbar Sharif. The main Eid congregation was held at 9 am at Badarpur Dargah Sharif Jame Mosque in Sadar Upazila. Besides Badarpur of Sadar Upazila, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in at least 27 villages of Kalapara, Bauphal, Galachipa, Dashmina and Dumki upazilas of the district.

Munshiganj

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in nine villages of Munshiganj. The villages are Anandapur, Shilai, Nayebkandi, Adhara, Mijikandi, Kalirchar, Banglabazar, Baghaiakandi and part of Kangsapura in Sadar Upazila.

Shariatpur

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held at Sureswar Darbar Sharif in Shariatpur with the participation of thousands of worshippers. At the end of the prayers, the devotees of the Darbar Sharif prayed for the acceptance of the fast and peace for the global Ummah. Devotees from different districts and about 3,500 worshipers from around Sureswar Darbar Sharif participated in two jamaats held separately on the Eidgah grounds of Darbar Sharif at 9:30 am on Wednesday. Shah Sufi Syed Belal Noori Al Sureswari and Maulana Md. Julhas Uddin led two separate congregations for the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr as a tradition of nearly 100 years in line with the Middle East including Saudi Arabia.

Madaripur

People of 25 villages celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr in Madaripur. The main Eid congregation was held at 9:30 am on Wednesday. Maulana Siddiqur Rahman, the Imam of Maulvi Bari mosque in Taluk village, led the Eid prayers. 

Lalmonirhat

More than 500 worshippers performed Eid-ul-Fitr prayers today in five villages of Kaliganj Upazila of Lalmonirhat in coordination with Saudi Arabia.

Kurigram

Hundreds of people from three unions offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in Bhuruingamari and Rajibpur upazilas in Kurigram. Apart from this, the Eid congregation was held in the Mohanganj and Kodalkati unions in Rajibpur upazila.

Satkhira

Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were held at different places in Satkhira. Baukola, Bhadukhali, Akhrakhola, Taluigacha of Sadar upazila, Islamkati of Tala upazila, Sonabaria, Paikgacha of Kalaroa upazila, many offered Eid prayers.

Chandpur 

Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were held in half a hundred villages of different upazilas in Chandpur in coordination with Saudi Arabia. The first congregation of Eid was held at Sadra Darbar Sharif ground in Hajiganj at 9 am on Wednesday, Maulana Zakaria Chowdhury led this congregation.

It has been found that residents of Sadra, Sameshpur, Alipur, Balakhal, Monihar, Pratapur, Basara, Lakshmipur, Kamta, Gallak, Bhulachon, Sonachon, Uvarampur, Uttali, Munsirhat, Kaitara, Moolpara, Badarpur, Aitpara, Surangachail, Balithuba, Paikpara, Noorpur, Sachanmegh, Sholla, Hansa, Gobindpur of Faridganj upazila, Dashani, Mohanpur, Panchani of North Matlab Upazila and several other villages of Kachua and Shahrasti upazilas participate in this religious festival. 

Pirzada Pir Dr. Bakibillah Mishkat Chowdhury of Sadra Darbar Sharif of Hajiganj, Chandpur said that in the past 1928, the late Pir Maulana Ishaq of Sadra Darbar Sharif of Hajiganj Upazila of the district first started fasting in line with Saudi Arabia in his own village and then his followers followed such rules. They are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha in that sequence. 

Noakhali

devotees of four villages in Noakhali’s Begamganj and Sadar upazilas celebrated Eid. For almost 100 years, they started fasting by performing the Tarawih prayer one day earlier in Bangladesh. They are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr by offering Eid prayers in 9 mosques of two upazilas. The villages are Laxminarayanpur and Harinarayanpur villages of Noakhali municipality, Basantbagh and Fazilpur villages in Gopalpur union of Begumganj upazila.
