A tourist ban has been enforced in Bandarban's Ruma upazila due to ongoing joint operations by law enforcement agencies targeting recent activities of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF). Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Didarul Alam issued a notification on April 9th, prohibiting tourists from booking hotel accommodations or visiting any tourist spots in the area until the conclusion of the joint operation.

According to the directive, no jeeps are allowed to transport tourists to any tourist destinations, and travel via waterways is also restricted. This decision was made based on the core committee's decision to maintain law and order in the district, as explained by Md Didarul Alam.

The need for such measures arose following recent incidents where KNF members attacked Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank in Bandarban's Thanchi upazila, resulting in significant looting and the abduction of individuals. These attacks led to multiple cases being filed in Ruma and Thanchi police stations.

The joint forces involved in the operation have made significant progress, having arrested 58 individuals, including 20 women, who have been subsequently remanded to jail by the court.
