Metro Rail Running Again On Previous Schedule

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, Metro Rail is running today, Saturday (April 13) on the previous schedule after being closed on the day of Eid and the following day on Friday. The one-hour schedule that was extended on the occasion of the month of Ramadan is no longer there.

Earlier, MAN Siddique, the managing director (MD) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), a management company for Metro Rail, said that the Metro Rail will be closed only on the day of Eid (April 11) for Eid. Besides, the weekly closure will be in effect as usual on the following day, Friday (April 12). As per that Metro Rail will be closed for two days in a row. Later on Saturday (April 13) morning, the Metro Rail will run as usual again.

As per the current schedule, the first train of the day departs from Uttara North Station for Motijheel Station at 7:10 am and leaves Motijheel Station for Uttara North Station at 7:30 am. Besides, the last train of the day will depart from Uttara North Station for Motijheel at 8 pm and will depart from Motijheel Station for Uttara North Station at 8:40 pm.

It is learned that in the first half of Ramadan, an average of 2.45 lakh passengers traveled by Metro Rail every day. Before Ramadan, the number was like 2.95 lakh. After extending the Metro Rail service by one hour from 16 Ramadan, the number of passengers increased. An average of 290,000 passengers traveled in the last five days.
