7 People Killed In Motorcycle Crashes In 3 Districts

As many as seven people have been killed in motorcycle accidents in three districts of Bangladesh.

In most cases, motorcycles were hit by buses on Friday amid a rush of people returning to Dhaka and other cities after Eid-ul-Fitr, reports bdnews24.com.

CHATTOGRAM

Four of them died in two crashes in Chattogram.

Two motorcyclists died after their vehicle collided head-on with a bus in the port city’s Patiya Upazila.

The incident occurred on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Upazila’s Mansa Badamtala area around 4:30pm, according to police.

The dead in the incident have been identified as Abdullah Al Mamun, 22, and Md Emran, 16.

The bus was heading towards the town, said Patiya Highway Police Station chief Toufiqul Islam.

Law enforcers seized the bus, but the driver managed to flee after the incident, he added.

Meanwhile, two teenage boys died and another was injured after a bus crushed their motorcycle in Chattogram's Fatikchhari Upazila.

The incident occurred on Chattogram-Khagrachari road in the Upazila’s Nazirhat around 5:15pm, according to police.

The dead teens have been identified as Md Abdullah, 17 and Md Mostakin, 13. The injured is 16-year-old Md Rahat. They all were cousins.

 “The motorcycle was taking a U-turn on the main road in front of Kumarpara Government Primary School after leaving Maizbhandar road when a Khagrachari-bound bus hit the vehicle from behind,” Nazirhat Highway Police Outpost Inspector Anisur Rahman said.

Abdullah and Mostakin were declared dead by a doctor after being taken to the hospital.

The bus was seized after the incident but the driver fled, Anisur said.

KISHOREGANJ

Two motorcyclists were killed after their vehicles collided head-on in Kishoreganj’s Pakundia Upazila.

Two others were critically injured in the accident that occurred in the Baratia Eidgah area around 7:30pm, said Pakundia Police Station chief Asaduzzaman Titu.

The dead are Nayeem, 28, and Sharif, 22, both identified with single names.

Nayeem’s sister Liza and another young man identified only as Fahim were admitted to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital.

BARISHAL

A bus collided with a motorcycle in Barishal’s Banaripara Upazila, killing rider Md Nasir Uddin, 40, in the Masrong area in the afternoon, said Banaripara Police Station chief Mainul Islam.

A Sakura Paribahan bus from Dhaka hit the motorcycle when Nasir was on his way home to Swarupkati, Mainul said.

He was declared dead at Banaripara Upazila Health Complex.

Nasir’s cousin Md Mohibullah said Nasir, who lived in a rented house in Banaripara, was going home after Eid.

Mainul said police seized the bus but the driver and his assistant fled.
