Abdur Rahman Bodi's two brothers, Abdus Shakur and Aminur Rahman, have been found to be involved in drug-related cases, according to the Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Mohammad Ali Mia.

On Wednesday (April 17), at noon, at the CID Media Center in Malibagh, the information was disclosed during a news conference titled 'Drug Lords in the Net of CID: Unveiling the Crooked Wealth' by him.

CID Additional Inspector General Mohammad Ali Mia said that initially, CID investigated 35 cases related to drug crimes, the main perpetrators being involved in illegal earnings from the drug business (kept in bank accounts), purchased lands, houses, and flats, as well as discovering various immovable and movable properties. The amount of illegally acquired money in these cases is approximately 17.844 billion taka.

He said that among the mentioned cases, in three cases, the drug lords froze 9.14 acres of land and two houses worth 81.1 million taka, and in various money laundering cases related to drugs, they have frozen 10 million 23 thousand 425 taka in different bank accounts. Furthermore, the process of seizing properties worth 36.82 crore taka, including 35.173 acres of land, 12 houses, and one car, is ongoing.

The CID chief further stated that according to a review, in 2021, 79,675 cases, in 2022, 82,672 cases, and in 2023, 76,403 cases related to drug crimes were filed in various police stations across the country. On average, about 80,000 drug-related cases are filed in the country every year.
