Khulna Range Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Shahed Ferdous Rana has been compulsorily retired after the allegations of showing the armory to three outsiders and allowing them to broadcast live on Facebook were proved.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs on April 9. Shahed Ferdous, a 25th batch BCS police officer, joined the police force on August 21, 2006. He is a permanent resident of Chandpur.

According to the notification, during his duty as Additional Superintendent of Police of Special Security and Protection Battalion in Dhaka on August 29, 2020, Shahed Ferdous Rana, Superintendent of Police of Khulna Range DIG's office, gave the opportunity to inspect the armory and broadcast live on Facebook describing the weapons. He was assisted in this work by Inspector of Police (Armed) Golam Mostafa, Inspector of Police (Unarmed) Syed Anisur Rahman, SI (Unarmed) Nur-e-Saroar Ripon, SI (Armed) Abu Saeed Mo Obaidur Rahman and SI (Armed) Manik Khan.

The notification also said that subsequently a proposal was sent to the Directorate of Police to take departmental action against Shahed Ferdous. Later, the video presented in the departmental case registered against him was examined by the experts of the forensic department of the CID. Then asked to send report with clear opinion. The video presented in the report sent by the Forensic Department of the CID on August 24 has not been edited i.e. the opinion is given in the true sense.

As the allegations of misconduct were proved beyond doubt, Shahed Ferdous was initially decided to be 'compulsorily retired' as a penalty. Later the advice of Public Service Commission (PSC) was sought. On January 1, the Public Service Commission recommended finalizing the decision to sanction compulsory retirement. He was then sent on compulsory retirement.
