New Member Of PSC Pradeep Kumar Pandey Takes Oath

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Pandey, currently serving as the Administrator of the Public Relations Department at Rajshahi University, has taken oath as a new member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). The Chief Justice, Obaidul Hassan, administered the oath-taking ceremony today, Thursday (April 18), at eleven o'clock in the morning in the Judges' Lounge of the Supreme Court.

Previously, on March 19, it was announced by the Ministry of Public Administration that Dr. Pradeep Kumar was appointed as a member of the PSC under the provision of Article 138(1) of the Constitution, with the condition of resigning from his positions in other institutions and organizations.

According to the announcement, as per Article 139(1) of the Constitution, he will serve as a member of the PSC until either five years from the date of assuming office or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever comes first.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Pandey has previously served as the Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Rajshahi University. He passed his SSC examination in 1989, securing the first position in the Rajshahi Education Board. In 1994, he obtained his Bachelor's degree and in 1995, he completed his Master's degree from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, both with first-class honors.

He joined the department as a lecturer in 2000, and subsequently received promotions to Assistant Professor in 2003, Associate Professor in 2011, and Professor in 2018.

In 2006, Dr. Pandey participated in a summer course at the University of Oslo under the Norwegian government scholarship program. In 2010, he obtained a PhD in Journalism Studies from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom.

He has served as the Chairman of the department until 2018 and has been a dedicated member of the progressive academic community, believing in the consciousness and values ​​of the liberation war. Alongside his teaching career, he has worked as a consultant for various organizations such as the Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB), UNICEF, UNDP, Asia Foundation, Article Nineteen Resource Person, and Communication Specialist. He has participated in various national and international conferences and has over a hundred publications in various journals.
