3-Day 'Heat Alert' Issued Across The Country

The country is experiencing an increasing heatwave across various regions, which may intensify and persist for a few more days. As a result, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a heat alert for three days.

Today, Friday (April 19), Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik has issued a cautionary message.

He informed that the prevailing heatwave over the country may continue uninterrupted for the next 72 hours starting today (April 19) and temperatures may further rise.

In another forecast, it has been stated that tomorrow, Saturday (April 20), until 9 a.m., there may be temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by rain or thunderstorms in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions at a few places. Additionally, scattered hailstorms may occur in some areas. Moreover, partly cloudy skies with mainly dry weather may prevail elsewhere in the country. Intense heatwave is prevailing over districts of Bagerhat, Jashore, Chuadanga, and Kushtia, as well as Dinajpur, Rangamati, Chandpur, Khulna, Satkhira, Barisal, and Patuakhali districts, including Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions, and it may persist with mild to moderate intensity. Daytime temperatures may rise across the country, and nighttime temperatures may remain almost unchanged. Increased humidity may lead to discomfort.

On Sunday (April 21) until 9 a.m., temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by rain or thunderstorms may occur in Maymansingh and Sylhet divisions at a few places. Scattered hailstorms may occur in some areas. Moreover, partly cloudy skies with mainly dry weather may prevail elsewhere in the country. Day and nighttime temperatures may slightly rise across the country. Increased humidity may lead to discomfort.

On Monday (April 22) until 9 a.m., temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by rain or thunderstorms may occur in Maymansingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions at a few places. Scattered hailstorms may occur in some areas. Moreover, partly cloudy skies with mainly dry weather may prevail elsewhere in the country.

It is noteworthy that daytime and nighttime temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Increased humidity may lead to discomfort.

In synoptic conditions, it is reported that the majority of the moderate heatwave conditions prevail in Western Bengal and adjacent areas. The normal mild heatwave is located in the southern Bay of Bengal.

There is no significant possibility of notable changes in weather conditions over the next 5 (five) days, as reported by the meteorological department.
